The Stewart Cassiar Highway is the northernmost highway in British Columbia and one of the two main route used to travel to Alaska from the United States. As a young man he moved up to Whitehorse in
the Goldrush Days of the 1890s.
He sold out his half – to his partner 1899s and moved to be bear his sister and her family in the NE US.

Boya Lake, thank you!! We stopped there to make a sandwich on our way up 37 last year and I couldn’t remember the name of the Lake. A hidden gem. We stayed at Kinaskan Provincial Park the night before. We didn’t mean to, but the park before that had three grizzly cubs frolicking in the ditch at the entrance of that campground (Meziadin Lake). We were on motorcycles and tenting so, tired as we were, we continued to Kinaskan and ended up loving it! The previous day, we decided to skip the Stewart/Hyder detour, due to time. Still regretting that. Thank you so much for the spot on telling of this awesome and hopefully forever, remote BC highway.
I worked in Cassiar in the early 1970s. It was an asbestos mining town. The road ended at Dease Lake then according to the map at the time. I never went there.
I think this is my first time watching one of your videos. It is my favorite of all time. The music is soothing. What you share is exceptional. Beautiful content. ❤
We rode North on the Cassiar in ’24 on the way to Ak on a road bike. Beautiful ride, amazing views and remote is no joke!!
