Can no longer keep any fish or rent a boat at Campell River 😢. I’ve been to MANY places with MORE Salmon than here. Has been “Capital” of world 😮
I could write a book about the many joys my wife and I had on many occasions on Vancouver Island. But none could top the day we stopped at the original Painters Lodge on Campbell River. And my wife caught a Tyee Salmon. We have pictures of the amazing catch hanging at the dock. A priceless moment!

About 20 years ago, I was invited to Vancouver Island. I was at awe everywhere I looked. From downtown up the coast, we got to see orcas, seals and the totem poles! Butchart Gardens, we’re a photographers delight. The tides were spectacular and saw Race Rocks, a colony of seals, whi h u could smell about 1/4 mile away. We wish we had more time.
